Living in Florida, cars get extremely hot- especially in the long summers. As an animal lover, I always cringe at the thoughts of helpless animals being left in sweltering cars.

Here’s some ideas of what to do if you see an animal in distress:

• take down the make, model, and license plate of the car, and notify nearby businesses so they can make an announcement on the speakers.
• call the non- emergency number of local police or animal control
• Educate yourself and others about local laws regarding animals left in cars
